Emptiness

I opened my freezer today and removed an empty box of Eggoʼs, a carton of ice cream with one bite left in it and another empty box, this one was from Ellio's Pizza. An empty milk carton is a mainstay in my refrigerator, as are numerous out-dated greek yogurts. In my laundry room there is an empty box of Bounce and a jug of Tide with a few dribbles left. But my bathrooms are where the biggest violations happen; shampoo and conditioner bottles clutter up the shower as the empties pile up, and the amount of toilet paper rolls that go without getting changed is crazy. My kids will get a fresh roil, remove the wrapping and place it next to the roll that is on the holder. What stops them from taking a few extra seconds to replace the roll and throw away the empty one is really a problem that will go unanswered until they find a cure for the common cold. Which could lead me down a whole other topic of finding tissues and retainer rubber bands on the floor of my house and my car. I have had plenty of trash cans, taking that extra step to throw stuff in seems harder than recovering from knee surgery. I know my kids are smart, considerate people, and they are whizzes with tasks they like. I need to figure out a way to connect social networking and changing the toilet paper roll. Maybe if you already know the answer youʼll help a sister out.
