Follow Your Compass
September 18, 2012
We all have an internal "compass" if you will. We follow it on a regular basis. We know deep down what is right and what is wrong when we are heading a certain direction.
If you learn to follow this guide, you too can harness a greater degree of success.
THE LITTLE VOICE
You may be wee attuned to that "little voice" inside of you, guiding you through your day. None of us knows where this comes from, but the truth is that it is usually right. When you feel something isn't quite right, it usually isn't.
Through the years, I have been lucky enough to listen to this intuition most times. On those occasions when I did not, I usually ended up in a spot where I did not want to go.
My wife has this skill and she is very receptive to it. Many times at a business function, she would meet someone and tell me that person "didn't feel quite right." Sure enough, it would turn out later that person was involved in something that had created a bigger issue.
But I have found it to be much more than giving you information on what or who to avoid. It can shape your life and help to put you on the right path in your career. What do you love to do? What is inside of you? What would you do if there were no such thing as money?
LEARN BY SILENCE
If you are not hearing your inner self, the best and most studied at it tell us how to do it. Their advice is to get somewhere
That is completely quiet, with no distractions at all. This is difficult to do in such a noisy and crazy world. Once you get there and find your spot, sit there in total silence.
Your brain will not believe that you have taken it to this place where it works best, so it may be a long time before anything happens. I remember the first time I tried this I sat in silence for what seemed like an eternity, but it was actually only about 25 minutes totally quiet.
Then it was like breaking through a wall, and the mind took over and everything became suddenly clearer. I suppose this is similar to the work your brain will do while sleeping, although you are fully awake. Unrestrained from having to process any external noises, sights, or smells, the brain shifts to focus in on you and what you are doing.
Your internal compass is then activated. All problems and issues seem less significant, and answers to your issues suddenly begin flowing easier.
IF IT FEELS RIGHT, DO IT
You inherently know if a decision is correct or not. If you don't have clarity, go ahead and reach for clarity by going silent. Watch and see what develops. Listen to your inner self, for it will surely come out. You already KNOW what you want to do; you just need some clarity to get there.
When you open yourself to listen to yourself, chances are you will like what you hear ... and your success will follow.
