The Ten Basic Success Rules For 2013
November 27, 2012
Part One of a Two-Part Series
As we wrap up the final weeks of 2012 and look forward to an amazing and very exciting 2013, over the next two weeks here in Success Tips, we will give you the 10 key essentials for a successful year of 2013. We live in incredibly interesting times with unchained opportunity, where we can be as successful as we make up our mind to be. By knowing these 10 tips, and following the spirit of their ultimate lessons, you will always experience success in all that you do in the coming year.
Conversely, a failure to follow these 10 steps will result in your being unable to obtain the success that you are capable of. Should you feel you are slipping in to a negative rhythm, simply pull out these 10 steps and get back on track as soon as practically possible. This week we cover the first five laws.
2013 LAW #1: THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS FAILURE.
Everything you do produces a result. There is only failure if you choose to vibrate and become one with failure. Everything you touch or direct is your choice. Therefore, there is no such thing as "failure" by you, only a result left over after you are finished. Look at the result of what you did. You may not like the result, but it is your result nonetheless.
Stop saying you failed, and simply make things happen the way you want them to happen by providing the proper input to begin with. You can choose to blame others and be a victim (some people love to do this) - the "Hey, it's somebody else's fault" theory -- but again, in the end, the result is yours, you are where you are today because of what YOU have done. My dad always taught me, "Hey, you made your bed, now lay in it." It's a tough lesson, but very true and effective. Another way to say this is: "If it is to be, it is up to me." You have to love those who say "I tried," for they do not know that there is no such thing as "try"-- you either "do" or "not do" something.
2013 LAW #2: WHAT YOU SEND OUT COMES BACK.
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. The Golden Rule. It's in the Bible, and just about every spiritual book ever published. But we constantly violate this principle as human beings. Some call it Karma, some call it payback. Whatever you call it, it is real and it will happen. Test it and see. You treat others nice and with respect, and you will receive the same in return. Treat others poorly, and you too will be treated poorly, or something will happen which will even the score.
You attract that which you send out. Be careful in what you are sending, and be sure it is what you want to receive, because it's headed back your way - and perhaps sooner than later. That which you APPRECIATE will appreciate you. That which you DEPRECIATE, will depreciate you. What or who are you depreciating today? Any wonder you are also being depreciated by the same thing that you are depreciating? No, because that is PERFECTION.
2013 LAW #3: WHAT YOU RUN AWAY FROM, YOU RUN INTO.
F.E.A.R. stands for False Evidence Appearing Real. The saying is, "That which you fear comes near." I saw this happen recently; we were in Key West having dinner at a place where chickens and roosters were running wild in the courtyard. One person we were with had a FEAR (False Evidence Appearing Real) of birds and chickens, which we did not know until after we were seated. I asked her to explain the fear. What was this rooted in? I was getting her to talk about what harm an animal like a chicken could do to you. She didn't really have an answer, only that they "peck you" and that freaked her out. Almost as if on cue, all the chickens in the place were "mysteriously" drawn to her.
They came from everywhere, bothered none of the seven other people at the table, but instead went right to her. They were drawn immediately to her. Eventually, I moved seats to be next to her and as the chickens came toward her, I shooed them away. But it again proved this important lesson -- what you run away from, you run into. Animals can sense what we cannot, much like a dog will sense fear and attack. I told her to go toward the chickens, reach out toward them. They won't take that chance; immediately they'll run away if you have no fear of them and instead appear as a predator. Why did the chickens come toward her and none to the rest of us? They knew. Don't be crippled by fear. Whatever you are running from, you will get again and again until it no longer causes you to be afraid.
2013 LAW #4: ALL EVENTS ARE NEUTRAL
Things that occur outside of you can only be controlled to a limited extent. You cannot control all events. Things happen with none of your help or lack of help. They are part of the landscape of your life. When something happens that affects you, it's not important WHAT happens ... it's important how YOU react to what happens. Are you prepared for whatever happens? As events unfold, you apply judgments to each event so that you have it properly categorized in your brain. But what YOU think is not always what OTHERS think. OTHERS may think the thing is GOOD while you think it to be BAD. That's because all events are neutral, it is only your attachment of a judgment that determines the difference; so how fast can you get to GOOD on any occurring event that you say is BAD?
If you can get the event positioned to GOOD for you, then you can be the ultimate success. The event may be neutral, but how you LEARN from a bad event will determine your success. Circumstances never MAKE the person, they simply REVEAL them. Get all events to GOOD for you and win. You can only do this if you understand that the difference is your JUDGMENT of the event.
2013 LAW #5: FEW THINGS ARE AS POWERFUL AS WRITTEN GOALS
If you are a regular Success Tips reader, this one is well known to you. Everything I have achieved in life has been as a result of writing the goal down and looking at it regularly. It's not luck; it's not some strange formula or black magic. It's all about written goals. By training your subconscious mind to be on the lookout to help you achieve something at every moment, and at the most unexpected times, simply write your goals and read them daily (or more often).
Mine remain in my wallet and I look at them every time I pull out my wallet. Always working on the next thing is how you achieve something of value for the future. You determine your success by being open to receiving the gifts of abundance - which are provided by your brains subconscious.
There used to be an astrologer on a radio station where I worked who each year would tell her followers to write a check to themselves for a certain amount of money, which she said tapped into the "stream of abundance" in the universe, and this money would then materialize during the year if they kept it with them. Caller after caller to the station would swear it worked -- as long as it was written on the first day of the full moon of the year or some other similar date when the timing was right.
Naturally, I thought the whole "river of abundance" thing was a bunch of hooey and would laugh about it each year ... because I knew what was REALLY going on here. The entire world is full of abundance and opportunity -- not just some imaginary river! And that abundance is always available for you, not just during a full moon or on the third Tuesday of the first month of the year. This wasn't some crazy theory coming from the stars, the moon, or some invisible river of money in the sky; it was simply writing a SOLID, WRITTEN GOAL, which then in turn led them to the result -- it's easy. Written goals are the ONLY way to achieve anything of true importance. What the audience was experiencing was the payoff of setting a goal and looking at it daily.
Next week, in Part Two, we will finish up the final 2013 Laws of success, including laws which include People, Determination, Attitude, Problems, and ultimately, Love.
