What A Year Ahead!
January 8, 2013
I cannot remember a year where I have been more excited than I am today. I am seriously pumped about 2013. I see things starting to happen for the better every day. Years have come and gone, but wow, I see almost nothing but opportunity ahead of us today. Do the math on this: tthere have been too many years of equal to static growth. Then remember this: Everything is cyclical.
What goes up must come down. And, just the same, everything that went down ... has to come up! Every day that goes by is another day where we are closer to making the break. This is not a pie-in-the-sky wish. It's true. The success train is about to leave the station. You have to know where your seat is and get ready for departure! How are you going to position yourself for the great leg UP that is already starting to occur?
LEVEL HEAD WINS
Unemployment is still far too high today, Taxes are heading up, and massive challenges lie ahead for all of us ... lots of craziness to be sure. But has there ever been a better time than right now? No way! You can feel it in the air. People are sick and tired of being sick and tired. This is the perfect recipe for SUCCESS - for those that can keep a level head, not freak out, and make long-term decisions today! I can see many, many good things just starting to take root this year. There still is a wave or two of flushing out the old before we can get on with the new, but it's in front of us.
We live in Florida, quite possibly the hardest hit economy in America next to parts of Southern California and possibly Nevada. We are and have been cheerleaders for Central Florida for well over 20 years, and for great reason. Where I live, literally right outside our neighborhood, fields that have been empty for years, or where construction had started and suddenly ground to a halt in 2009 -- are suddenly active again.
New houses are starting to spring up. We are seeing businesses open up. I go to a restaurant and can't get in because it's packed. We have trouble finding skilled labor for projects. Something, ever so slowly, is happening. It's that cycle thing.
The benefit of being over age 50 (to all you youngsters reading this column) is that you start to see the cycles of things in life. The cycle goes down, then it goes back up. The game changes slightly each cycle, based on factors like technology, but the basics of being a success remain the same. What do you want to achieve and by when? It's all there for you for the taking. Determine where you fit in to your industry and make your best case. People are listening to you. You are needed to help build the up cycle. Don't give in to the negativity and the downers who tell you that you can't, or that the world is ending in 2012 (you see how that worked out for them, LOL). Stop listening to the noise and move ahead on purpose, doing what you love to do.
LOOK TO YOUR FUTURE
It's no longer a game of a year or a month. It's now a game of 10 years, 20 years out. When you talk to the uber-successful, they all say the same thing - life is a long-term game. It's important you have a goal and know where you will be in 15 years. That is beyond most folks' comprehension. If you can grasp the concept, you can jump aboard for a ton of success.
We still face certain instability in 2013. And that is the best news ever. Out of instability is born greatness. Leaders rise out of adversity. There will be plenty of life storms to test us this year. Find the way to get back up on the horse and keep moving forward.
Change is all around us. It's getting better. Get on board, embrace it, and achieve your goals. 2013 will be a fantastic year should you decide to make it your greatest year ever. Not only can I see it, I can feel it too!
