Expand Your Focus
February 25, 2014
The saying is, "What you focus on, expands." We'll look at ways to accomplish a greater focus in Success Tips this week!
THE UNIVERSAL LAW OF EXPANSION
One of the most basic laws in the world of achievement is "What you focus on, expands." What this means is that once you have a goal in mind, look at that goal daily, and stay focused on your desire to REACH that goal, your focus will be achievement-based, and due to the universal law of expansion, your achievement of that goal will expand. You will reach it.
The opposite of this effect is to focus on what you CANNOT achieve, or as we call them, the "Self Defeating I'ms" (Examples: "I'm not good at math, I don't understand money and investments, I am a Gemini and therefore I'm not creative," etc.) There are literally thousands of bogus untruths that cause you to defeat yourself before you even start. Add to that the chorus of friends telling you that you can't (because they couldn't) and suddenly you are a defeatist thinker. It's scary!
How this actually works is that by focusing on failure and "Can't," you are in effect causing the failure to EXPAND. Remember, what you focus on EXPANDS. Focus on winning and achievement ... and you will. Focus on failure ... and you will. There is no escaping this truth.
ASK YOURSELF WHAT....
What are you focusing on? Are you focusing on achievement of your goals, or are you focusing on why you CANNOT achieve your goals? Either way, you will create an expansion of what you are focusing on. We see this all the time, and as they say about something like driving a car - be looking where you want to go, not where you shouldn't go. As a kid playing around with race cars, the veteran drivers always taught us "never look at the wall or you'll drive into it." Made sense then ... and still does now. Keep your eyes on the prize. Mentally, look ahead and always drive OUT of the turns. Don't worry about the wall. If you are going where you are supposed to, the wall never comes into play; it's invisible.
Same applies to achievement. Focus on the goal, focus on what you want to achieve, focus on where you want to be. Keep your focus there and you leapfrog the obstacles. It's so cool to hear the Olympic athletes from Sochi basically say these same things in the interviews after winning a medal. Nobody gets up there and says, "I have no idea why I won this." Every one of them talks about great sacrifice, hard work, focus and doing it when they were scared and the ultimate joy that reaching a goal creates. They medal because they overcome the fear; they focus only on the achievement, and drive to the ultimate medal success. They never allow failure to even enter their heads.
THINK ONLY SUCCESS
The successful have many traits in common that are completely different from others. One of the best is that they can tune their mind to achieve. There is no big secret to this; it is simply about doing it, about thinking success and then allowing success to follow you as a byproduct of doing that thing which you love to do - the thing that no matter what, you would rather be doing it than anything else in the world.
We become what we think about. Think about achievement ... and you will watch your achievement EXPAND.
