Focus On The Possible
June 10, 2014
One of the greatest -- and most overlooked -- ability of the best and most successful leaders of any age is their natural tendency to always see what is possible in front of them. We'll focus on that subject today in Success Tips.
These leaders do not wear rose-colored glasses. They are concerned and obsessed with what CAN be accomplished in any given situation (regardless of that situation), or when handed any set of circumstances. They find the way to set things on the proper path.
These leaders are never worried about what might slow them down in the process. The ability to maintain the vision through turbulent times and see the recovery was a theme we talked about a lot back in the darkest days of the great recession. You may recall several guest columnists also talking about this subject.
Those who could see through the tunnel to the other side are the ones who emerged most successful at the end of the downturn. Many lost their way during that time, but the true leaders in every field emerged stronger than before. They all have one thing in common: Where others saw DIFFICULTY, they saw POSSIBILITY. All of this is tied to attitude, and how one would see and process the world around them.
If you owned a company, you would love to have a team working for you that could SEE out ahead of them that there are achievements to be made - this is known as having a winning VISION. Of course that is the type of team you would want - not a team that would make excuses, or not achieve that which they could ultimately be capable of. You would want possibility thinkers when the chips are down.
See possibility. Look for solutions. Remember, you are a paid professional problem-solver in this life. No matter what you do, you are here to solve problems and make things better. When you run out of problems, you are out of business!
By focusing on what is possible to achieve to move in a positive direction, given your current circumstances, you immediately raise your capability higher than what it would be ordinarily if you were to do nothing. Check your situation, find the victory within that set of circumstances, then set your plan and go for it. Never look back, because the best course of action in a difficult period can be action itself.
Stay focused on what is possible, and enjoy your success!
