Avoid Your Comfort Zone
July 29, 2014
Human beings are great at goal seeking. We may be the best on the planet of doing this. By nature, we always fall back to goal seeking. Whatever goal is the most present in our consciousness is the one that we will seek. We will move to meet our needs and desires. Be careful what you wish for, as they say ... because you just might get it! To be sure we are always on the path to getting what we want, we must maintain solid goals at all times.
Mostly, humans seek a stable, unchanging environment upon which they can "rely." Humans are naturally resistant to change, even if they know that it will ultimately be change which will cause massive growth for themselves.
Change is always temporarily "uncomfortable" as we depart the well-known and step into the unknown. No one likes to be "uncomfortable." Being uncomfortable is risky. But by being truly comfortable, there is also big risk. In many cases, a risk of lost opportunity or true growth potential.
LIFE CHOICE: COMFORT OR GROWTH?
It's not comfortable to fall off a bike. But you did it, again and again, as a child until you learned how to balance yourself up on two wheels. Once you broke through and were able to accomplish two wheeling, what a difference it made in your life! Instant growth. Instant advancement. But, it was scary, it was difficult, it hurt when you fell down along the way. But you learned that it is far better once you can shed those training wheels and become a two-wheel bicycle. Your life and career are no different.
Your compass is naturally set to seek comfort and has been since you were a baby. But the path to growth does not run parallel to comfort. Since the human being is a goal seeking being, and you naturally seek comfort, simply CHANGE the heading on that compass. Instead of setting your compass to comfort, set it to growth. While growth in life or career can be painful, it also can be very rewarding, just like the bicycle we talked about earlier.
Change is painful in many cases, but almost always leads to growth. I hear from many readers who mention that they may be struggling, but they are growing and are "out of their comfort zone".
If it feels just slightly uncomfortable, that's a good thing and indicates that you are growing and learning.
IMAGINE NO LIMITATIONS
Imagine if there was no such thing as failure. What would you do then? What would your goals look like then? Once your goals are set, just think of achievement as something that WILL happen. Don't hamper yourself with "I Can't".... instead, empower yourself and grow your future with "I CAN."
I have many friends who use their daily affirmations to set their day off on the right foot. They read all about who they will become and stay focused on what they have to do to reach the next goal along that journey. It's not by accident that these folks are extremely successful!
By setting no limitations on yourself, you become unstoppable. Out of your comfort zone means learning and achieving. There is no better way to succeed!
