Flip The Negative
February 8, 2011
It's not about what happens to you in life. It's about what you DO with what happens to you in life that makes the ultimate decision on what level of success you will achieve.
Sometimes those who suffer the biggest setbacks are the same ones who then rise to overcome the odds and be the ultimate winner. We see it all the time. But why?
NO ROOM FOR GIVING UP
The old saying is, "Best thing to do when you get thrown from the horse is to get back on." I know; I have watched folks in all lines of work get thrown and come back -- because they wanted to. They wanted it badly enough and climbed back up on that horse. Sometimes it took a while to get back on, but they did it and ended up stronger and smarter for having gone through it. There is no way they will then repeat the mistakes of the past. They then advance themselves to a higher level of success. They never gave up. They never stopped.
In almost all cases, it is about PERSISTENCE. They keep on keeping on. They don't become paralyzed by the setback - they only become more determined than ever to succeed. So they strap on that helmet a little bit tighter and get back up there. Result? They push on to become a champion.
Everyone gets thrown. No one has it so easy as to never take their knocks. After they hit the setback, they dig in and reinvent themselves. They become resilient and find the way to win, striking off in a new direction in order to capture victory.
After a setback, what happens depends upon you. Winners look at setbacks as a temporary condition to be used as a lesson ... and move forward again. But many do not see it that way. Many will allow the setback to sabotage their future efforts, give them feelings of inferiority and "I can't do this."
These self-defeating thoughts turn out to be true. Most definitely, if you think you can't, you won't. You will find the way to prove yourself correct. You will attract the "can't." Since what you focus on expands, your "can't" expands and becomes your overall direction.
Never choose "can't" because you cap your success. Everything is possible. Move "can't" to "can" and watch the fun begin.
FLIP AND WIN
As soon as a setback occurs, look it over very well and understand WHY the setback occurred and HOW you will prevent it from happening again. Take the incoming negative, think of it as a lesson, and find the blessing inside that lesson. Do this enough, and it will become a part of your life. Flip the negative over to a positive. No matter how bad something may seem, there is a huge positive inside if you just look for it, and can act on it instead of being paralyzed by it.
Remember, "Everything Serves" is our motto. Everything that comes to you is a blessing, a lesson, and to be used as feedback that puts you on the right track if you are not already on the right track. Be open to receiving lessons in life, and they will be the blessing that moves you higher. Here's to your success in 2011!
