It says in the New York Times that there's a gefilte fish shortage for Passover and Jews are upset as a result. It all stems from the weather - there was a shortage of whitefish from the Great Lakes lakes that remained frozen through the traditional harvesting season. Okay, confession: I am Jewish (not the confession, that's no secret) and I hate, despise, loathe gefilte fish. It's gross and disgusting. There, I said it. In fairness, I'm not all that observant, but, still, I'll eat some of the traditional Passover stuff (matzos are pretty good with some toppings, you know, and I could eat matzoh ball soup and brisket at every meal). Gefilte fish, no. A shortage is not a problem for me. My wife likes it, though. And we found enough gefilte for this holiday. (New York Times)
