Shoulda Stuck With Tap Water, That'd Only Have Been 85 Bucks
-
This guy sitting in the cigar terrace of a hotel in London ordered three bottles of San Pellegrino and it cost him £75 (that's $127.45). How? Because there's a "minimum spend" of £25 per person -- that was £50 right there -- on top of the £16.50 for the water and £8.55 "service charge." The guy's appalled, and I don't blame him -- at places like that, the "minimum spend" is rarely clear. Minimums are common, but normally they set it at the number of drinks you order, so you can at least understand the process. (Metro, London)
