Pay The Seventy Dollars
-
This man has been faithfully renewing his driver's license for decades, but when he was pulled over recently for speeding, he suddenly was told that his license was showing that it had been suspended since 1981. 1981? How? Why? Well, here's the thing: The DMV says it misspelled his name back then and they ended up with two of him. They recently merged databases, and now it's showing up. He says they never notified him even back then. And they're saying that, well, we'll let him off the hook -- the statute of limitations meant that this thing expired long ago -- for a $70 processing fee. He doesn't think he should have to pay anything. Should he hold out on principle? (KATU-TV/Portland)
