I've pointed this out before, but you've never heard of most of the people that teens consider superstars. That's because those "stars" are celebrities via Vine and YouTube, posting short videos that connect with the pre-sophisticated crowd. The fans flock to live events at which the "stars" (not much older than they are) basically meet and greet. And here's the thing: Why not? Your typical celebs of the past are unapproachable. These performers -- whether or not you think they're talented -- are right there, communicating with the fans in person or on social media, really connected. What's the problem with that?
