A 16-year-old who was the last of four teens to be sentenced in the attack on another kid with a crowbar that ended in the victim getting a swastika carved in his forehead with a box cutter got 11 years in custody. The teen apologized, and his parents, after a brief apology of sorts, issued a long statement about their son talking about how he has mental health issues and is a wonderful kid and so on. But the reason for the attack is still murky: The attacker claims the victim called him gay on Facebook, and the victim's mom says it was because her son was dating his attacker's ex. So, the attacker will get out of jail at 27- is that enough punishment for the crime, and is that an age where an ex-con can still make something out of his life? (The Oregonian)
