No Distracted Driving, Unless You Wear A Badge
-
What do we learn from the fact that the sheriff's deputy who hit and killed a bicyclist -- a former Napster executive -- because he was busy looking at his computer screen while driving won't be charged in the death? Just that the cops had a loophole written into the law. YOU can't look at your screens. THEY can, if it's in the "course and scope of their duties." HE WAS TYPING WHILE DRIVING. He should have pulled over first, cop or no cop, duty or no duty. Otherwise, it's open season on bikers, pedestrians, other cars, utility poles, anything in their path. (Los Angeles Daily News)
