Here's A Tip - 20 Percent, No Matter What
-
You want to be a celebrity, huh? Well, if you are, your every move is going to be news. Take LeSean "Shady" McCoy, star running back for the Philadelphia Eagles football team (like that? I'm trying to act like I'm not a rabid Eagles fan. Is that how it's done?), who was not happy with the service at a popular Philadelphia restaurant and left a 20 cent tip. Naturally, the restaurant ran to the media. Now, yeah, it was stupid to do that knowing that people would talk -- you do NOT want to get a reputation as a bad tipper -- but non-celebrities do that all the time and it's not a headline. And the lesson is, even if the service sucks, leave a decent tip. Famous or no, do it. It's how the servers make their money, and the service has to be horrific (and the server's fault) to justify stiffing them. (I've even left a generous tip based on what the bill would have been when restaurants comped all or part of a meal because of a problem. You won't miss the money, but some poor server whose job you wouldn't want can use it.) (WCAU-TV/Philadelphia)
