Too Expensive, Too Much Of A Hassle. TV's Better
-
New stadia are considered a panacea for slow ticket sales, at least in the beginning. But I don't think, short of Marlins Park, I've seen the bloom off the rose as quickly as at the San Francisco 49ers' Levi's Stadium, where tickets for the second regular season home game are selling at below face value on StubHub a few days before the game. And this is a game against a quality opponent (Philadelphia). Is this the Niners' poor play at work, or the distance from San Francisco to Santa Clara, or the traffic nightmares at the place so far, or that the price of tickets is STILL too high? I mean, I'm an Eagles fan and I thought long and hard about driving up to see the game, but I decided that it wasn't worth the time or money when I can watch it at home on a big TV in HD. The appeal of going to the stadium is limited these days. (KPIX-TV/San Francisco)
