The daughter of the BTK killer is angry with Stephen King for writing a novella and movie based on the BTK killings, saying that it exploits the victims and their families. The question is, of course, who owns the story, and whether a "based loosely on real events" story is exploitation. King says that the drive to understand things like the murders is the basis of art. If you're a family member of the victims, you would say that, no, it's exploitation. If you're a writer, you'd say that basing stories on real lives is what you do. (Wichita Eagle)
