I'd Move 'Em To Sacramento Or Minneapolis Or St. Louis, But That's Just Me

Major League Soccer is reportedly about to pull the plug on Chivas USA, make the team dormant for two years, then resurrect it under a new name and new ownership at a new stadium in L.A. If you're not familiar with Chivas USA, they're the second L.A. soccer club, and they have practically no fans. Zero. Okay, dozens. They made every possible mistake: aligned with Mexican soccer side Chivas, they alienated the large number of non-Chivas fans of Mexican descent here. They spent most of their marketing time, effort, and money on Mexican fans, driving Anglo and other ethnic fans deeper into the arms of L.A. Galaxy. They got caught in a nasty discrimination (against non-Spanish speakers) case. And they sucked. I live a short drive from the stadium Chivas USA and the Galaxy share, and saw zero marketing to get me, a soccer fan, to show up. I didn't even know when their home matches were scheduled. Why would I, or anyone else, go? (ESPN FC)
