Need To Know Basis

What obligation do schools have to parents to tell them when a student makes a threat against the school? At a Massachusetts high school, a student threatened to bomb the school to kill teachers, but the school didn't inform parents until two days after the threat. Needless to say, parents are telling the schools that they wanted to be informed immediately. The question is whether, If the threat has been dealt with, the parents need to know. I would think you'd want everybody to be aware, but the school has a different idea. (Springfield Republican)
