Do As We Tell You And Nobody Gets Hurt Except You

One of the biggest problems with the political parties -- the Republicans seem to have a bigger problem with this -- is that if you're a moderate and elected as such, you get threatened by the more extreme members of your party if you don't do what they want. And so, elected a a moderate Republican, new Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker is already being threatened by the more conservative wing of the state GOP that if he doesn't get more conservative, they'll challenge his re-election bid in 2018. Now, if he ignores them and does a good job, he should be able to win anyway, but the threat of them staying home in 2018 might be one way they can get some leverage. Should a moderate listen to the other side (and vice versa, if a hard-right or hard-left politician is being pressured by moderates) or go his own way? (Boston Herald)
