This is an example of how Walmart uses its market power: In the Lehigh Valley (Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton, PA), there's a local soda brand, A-Treat, that's extremely popular. I know, it's weird, but you go there and A-Treat's everywhere. Anyway, Walmart told them that from now on, A-Treat drivers would have to restock shelves in its stores every single day, which, for a company as small as that, would be onerous. So the soda maker will stop selling at Walmart. Is that good for A-Treat? No, but neither is having to increase your own costs so Walmart can low-ball competitors. You don't see too many companies telling Walmart to take a hike, do you? (WFMZ-TV/Allentown)
