At That Price, I Can Afford Maybe Half A Closet
-
The other day, we saw that $195 million or so mansion for sale in Beverly Hills. Today, we have a £10 million one-bedroom apartment in London. Now, I know how expensive London can be -- basically, anything inside the M25 is likely to be valued about 10 times what you'd guess -- but this, at One Hyde Park, is insane. It's a duplex -- huge master bedroom and bathroom downstairs, living and dining room and toilet upstairs, kitchen, £6,300 per square foot. Oh, and £1.1 million in tax, £2,000 per year in "ground rent," £32,000 per year in service charges. Oh, but you get 24-hour security, maid service, same-day laundry and dry cleaning, room service available, and communal facilities like a spa, pool, sauna, steam room, squash court, and movie theater. But £10 million is a bargain when you consider that a penthouse in the complex went for £140 million last year. (Daily Mail)
