Okay, let's step back from this one for a second. Yes, it seems dangerous and foolhardy to leave a couple of 9-year-olds mostly home alone for months while their parents were overseas, but you could make a case for the uncle who was supposed to be watching them that the kids were plenty capable of handling most tasks themselves. I could have taken care of most daily chores -- making meals, cleaning, walking the dog -- when I was nine. So it's reasonable to... no, really, the uncle should have been there. Checking in every so often is not enough. (WMUR-TV/Manchester)
