So You Have To Drive A Couple More Minutes To In-N-Out. Big Deal

Remember how, a few years ago, Los Angeles, with great fanfare, banned fast food joints in South L.A., proclaiming it a major tool in the war against obesity? Well, the Rand Corp. has studied the program's effectiveness and has found that blocking new fast food joints has had zero effect on obesity rates. Zero. In fact, fast food consumption is UP. And now, the city council is scrambling to find justification for what they did, now saying that it was meant as symbolic. Yeah, because it was pointless and a failure as policy. Seriously, these politicians are never held accountable for wasting time and money, but in this case, they really should be skewered. (Los Angeles Times)
