The battle over whether Texas has to offer Confederate flag license plates is going to the Supreme Court, and the issue will be whether what's on the plate is the driver's speech or the state's speech. If it's the latter, the state can ban whatever it wants on there. If it's the former, it can't. Why anyone would WANT their plate to say "I'm a racist" -- no arguments, you post the Stars and Bars in 2015 and that's exactly what you're conveying -- I don't know, but if the state's letting everyone else put stuff on plates, it becomes a First Amendment issue.
