We've discussed how it's hard to find a place for a paroled or released sex offender to live. But does it make any sense at all to put a violent, high-risk offender in a 3,000-square-foot mini-mansion for $3,000 per month paid with tax money? That's exactly what's happening in Fairfield, CA, because, the court claims, it's the one place that is just far enough away from schools to be permissible under the law. His lawyer says he's no threat to children, but he's a convicted rapist and his most recent victim was 17 years old. Would you want him as a neighbor? (KOVR-TV/Sacramento)
