A veteran says he was contemplating suicide, distraught over the passing of his wife a few months earlier, and called the VA's suicide hotline... which put him on hold for 10 minutes at a time. And once he got someone to stay on the line, she didn't help much. The lines just don't have enough people to man them, nor the ability to attract people who know what they're doing or train new ones. Of course, the VA is hoping they can get more money from Congress (read: you) to fix the problem, but even with the money, would YOU take that job? Listening to people's woe can't be a fun time.
