Keep It In The Teachers' Lounge
-
News from My Hometown (really): A teacher has lost her appeal of her teaching license suspension for making fun of a student's name on Facebook. Apparently, part of the student's name was close to a rude word. She was forced to resign over it. (She was making over $76,000 as a 13-year tenured teacher -- not a bad salary, in case you hear more complaints about teachers' low pay.) The suspension came because it's considered bullying and harassment. I don't know if it's that or if it's just unseemly, but she'd still be employed if she'd only have resisted the urge to post her comments online. (Bergen Record)
