Not Well Done

Programmers assume a lot about how people use their apps on smartphones, and one of the major assumptions is that people know what the hamburger is. Do you? It's that little three-horizontal-line icon, usually at the top left or top right, that brings up a menu. The icon's supposed to be intuitive, but how many times have you just stared at the screen not knowing how to get to what you want, and never even notice the three lines? And it looks slightly different in each app. It's too easy not to notice or find it, and way too easy not to know that what you're looking for is under that button. Maybe the word "Menu" would be the better way to do that. (BBC)
