This article looks at the differences, when there are any, between sequels, remakes, reboots, and reimaginings. You may laugh, but people in Hollywood are very, very careful with those terms. A sequel follows up the original and there's continuity. A remake is a new version of an old story, while a reboot starts with the characters and basic plot but takes a different turn with them, and a reimagining... well, that could be anything.
