But Someone's Gotta Do It, So....
-
I wake up every day at 3 am to work. So does this BBC Radio 4 "Today" host, Sarah Montague, who wrote this piece asking the headline question "Are night shifts killing me?" The answer is maybe -- people who work overnight hours tend to get diabetes, be obese, develop heart disease, even get cancer. And some experts say you never adapt, so "you get used to it" is not true. Plus, your performance suffers -- it's like being drunk -- and you might endanger others if you have to, say, drive. The problem is, as she asks, "So what do I do about it?" I mean, there's a mortgage to pay. (BBC)
