Get Some Lysol And Purell, Stat

When I told some friends about an upcoming trip, one of them, who'd just come back from shooting a TV pilot in New Orleans, insisted that I use AirBnB instead of hotels; he'd stayed in someone's home in New Orleans for the shoot and had a great time. Most of the stories I hear from people about AirBnB are like that. But then I hear horror stories like this guy whose roommate decided to sublet without permission through AirBnB, leading to the owner coming home one day and finding a strange couple in his bed, his liquor cleaned out and a hookah in the dining room. And AirBnB's response seems to be a shrug and a "it's your problem" and "it's between you and your roommate." You'd hope that they'd vet things a little better, maybe ask for proof of ownership or lease to determine that the person listing the apartment actually has the right to sublet it. Until that's the standard, I think I'll stick to hotels. (WBBM-TV/Chicago)
