Can we stop with the articles like this one that note that a prominent person who committed suicide, like this top chef, showed no signs of depression before killing himself? Depression doesn't always get signaled. You don't know who's depressed and who isn't. We like to think that there are signs to look for that will allow us to rush in and save someone from depression, but often there aren't any signs. That this guy gave an interview a few weeks before his passing and didn't say anything that signalled suicide is not unusual. What was he supposed to do, say "I'm going to kill myself in two weeks, just so you know"? (New York Times)
