If the economy is, as they tell us, on the rebound and doing well, why aren't people buying stuff? Okay, that's a little broad, but retail is hurting, the growth of online shopping doesn't make up the difference, and nobody seems to have a single coherent explanation for what's happening. Are people, as this article suggests, being more frugal and spending more on necessities than frivolous stuff? Or is the economy in real terms still hurting? (Washington Post)
