It's The Way We Do Things Now, Sir

Okay, I'm gonna seem like a bad guy for this, but I don't really sympathize with the 80-year-old man who got a terse rejection letter from Quaker Oats because his recipe contest submission was hand-written instead of submitted online as required under the rules. First, it was clearly in the rules. Second, your age is NOT an excuse for not being able to use a computer. Before he passed away, my dad, in his 70s, in the dial-up days, was getting online and able to use the Web and shop and communicate on the Internet. And it's way easier now, and even accessible to people with disabilities. Stories like this reinforce the stereotype of the clueless, helpless, confused elderly person, and most seniors I know are perfectly adept on the Internet. (Fox News)
