Because it's built on an unstable iron ore mine, Sweden's northernmost city of any size, Kiruna, is being moved 2 miles east. The danger if they don't is that the city could get swallowed up in the collapsing mine. So they're going to build new buildings and tear some old ones down, and some of the old ones will be just lifted up and moved down the road. The mining company's paying for it. Would you move down the road with the town or just get the hell out of there? After all, the new location's also above iron ore deposits.... (New York Times)
