We get alternating stories about how Chipotle is doing since the E.coli thing, some saying they're recovering and some saying people are still staying away. I'm guessing that the latter is closer to the truth, because the chain is launching a loyalty program for the summer. This is nothing new -- think of it as the old Subway Card or the current Domino's Rewards, just for burritos -- but, and the article doesn't stress this, it serves a dual purpose. Yes, it's intended to attract business, but when you sign up, you're giving them data. Like Google and so many other companies, your information might be more valuable than the money you spend on a burrito. (Bloomberg)
