Rules Are Made Up To Be Broken
-
Mom went to a bowling alley for her birthday, but an employee turned the day into something less than celebratory when he told her that under state law, her 16-month-old son could not drink from his sippy cup because bringing food or drink into the establishment is illegal. Turns out that it's not illegal and not even the policy of the bowling alley, and that the excuse is that the employee is "new." Okay, so, we have someone who, confronted with a situation with which he's not familiar, made up a rule on the spot. And this happens SO often -- you run into a clerk or CSR who will not budge from a nonsensical decision and keeps telling you that it's "policy" and that he can't deviate from the "policy" (which, conveniently, does not appear anywhere that you can find). The customer is always wrong to some staffers. (WHSV-TV/Harrisonburg, VA)
