Why, That's Like Naming Something Outside Rome 'The Forum.' What? Oh, Yeah

The Charlotte Hornets' arena is changing its name; the naming rights holder, Time Warner Cable, wants to promote its current package of offerings, so the name will now be "Spectrum Center." Which is bad, because if you're talking about an arena called "Spectrum," there can be only one, and that would be the one I grew up going to basketball and hockey games and concerts at, the one at the corner of Broad and Pattison in South Philadelphia, the late, great home of the Sixers, Flyers, Phantoms, Kixx, and a wide range of events. Some names shouldn't be reused. (Charlotte Observer)
