Another Millennial-targeted media thing bites the dust: Participant Media, the left-leaning Hollywood studio that thought the time was right for yet another news-and-entertainment channel for thoughtful, serious, left-leaning young folks, is shutting down Pivot, preferring to just let the thing go dark rather than to even try and sell it. Pivot had some critical successes, but with shows produced by overseas networks. Its own stuff, not so much. And they found here what others (hello, MTV Classic! How are those page counts and ratings going, Fusion?) will find and still others (say, what channel is Current on, anyway?) have already, sadly, discovered: Young folks aren't subscribing to cable, and they want everything other than "Game of Thrones" on an on-demand, bingeable basis.
