And, Yeah, Sometimes You Just Want To Watch Whatever's On
-
This article attempts to explain why, despite other stories about how everyone's cutting the cord and dumping cable TV, the vast majority of viewers are not cutting the cord just yet. The bottom line, they say, is that cord-cutting is too much of a hassle, and people like just turning on the TV and seeing what's on rather than root through Netflix, etc. I think that's part of it, and there's the cost -- you end up paying a lot for less -- and you lose a lot of live broadcasts (like sports). There are also people like me who HAVE to get cable to get ANY broadcast stations, since the signals from L.A. don't reach over the mountain that's between me and the transmitters and San Diego's too far down the coast to offer a consistent signal. I CAN'T cut the cord unless I don't want to see anything airing live on ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, PBS, etc. I can't be the only one. (Minneapolis Star Tribune)
