Although You COULD Disqualify Him If He Just Isn't Funny
-
Should a school board member's outside activities be used to disqualify him or her from the board? What if that person is an Internet radio shock jock (pardon the term, which I hate, too)? In South Jersey, a guy who's a father of two kids and a school board member up for re-election may be the same guy who does what they describe as a "raunchy" Internet show on a Philadelphia streaming site, and they quote rude and tasteless remarks and sexist, homophobic jokes to insinuate that he's unfit for the job. But it's also unrelated to the board work, and it's basically the same as being a comedian -- it's intended as entertainment, not to be taken literally. It's actually similar to taking Trump's appearances on Howard Stern's show out of context - Trump was clearly playing along with Howard and not taking it seriously, so do you take that material, or this school board member's material, and use it against them?
