In Memory Of Wally Pipp

This article is about the actors who, for some reason, leave or lose out on starring roles in hit movies, roles that make other actors stars or Oscar winners. Example: Emma Watson and Miles Teller couldn't do "La La Land," which is apparently going to make Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling strong contenders for Oscars. Matt Damon was going to star in and direct "Manchester By the Sea," but had "scheduling conflicts," so Casey Affleck is now getting huge reviews and is a shoo-in for an Oscar nomination, and the writer, Kenneth Lonergan, directed and is expected to be a strong Oscar candidate. Let's bring this down to our own earthly level: Did you ever turn down a job and have major regrets afterward? (New York Times)
