Yet They Still Can't Quite Do A Really Effective Tracker For Your Car Keys
-
Thieves, beware: The cops are sticking GPS trackers in stuff, and they may just be able to follow you wherever you're going. In Orange County, some pharmacy burglary suspects were caught by a GPS planted in a cough syrup package. That was a stroke of luck: investigators looked at all the pharmacies in their area and picked one where they guessed someone would try to steal syrup, and they happened to guess right. Same for the San Francisco cops who planted a UPS package with a GPS tracker on someone's porch as bait, leading to the arrest of a suspect in theft of packages from people's doorsteps. The more these news stories show up, the more thieves will think twice about that "easy" pilfering, right? Hope so, at least. (Los Angeles Times; Bay City News via SFGate.com)
