He's Very Supportive Of The Asian Community. He Once Ate At A Panda Express

Matt Damon insists that his starring in a movie about the Great Wall of China is not a case of a white actor getting a role intended for an Asian, because, he says, it was written as a British mercenary, so... wait, a British person can't be Asian? A role HAS to be cast as white because it was "written that way," even if it's fictional and there's no real reason for the ethnic designation? A white guy once again has to be the hero saving all the minorities? Can't blame Hollywood for this one, though, since it's a Chinese production.... (AP via the Hollywood Reporter)
