My College Never Closed Unless There Were, Like, 3 Feet Of Snow On The Ground

Dead: School closings on the radio. Not needed with internet sites and phone trees and texts. This is being driven home by the end of the fabled school closing numbers lists on KYW/Philadelphia, upon which generations of kids and parents relied. You'd wake up, the alarm clock would pop on with KYW, and you'd hear them reading the list -- "In Delaware County, 147, 148. 150. 152, 154 is one-hour late, 157, 162..." -- and know that if your school's number came up, you could roll over and go back to sleep. KYW will now leave that to the website. Makes perfect sense, but it was so much part of Philadelphia that it feels like we're losing something special. (Philadelphia Inquirer)
