I'd Be More Excited If Wawa Or Culver's Came Here, But That's Not Gonna Happen

It's done: The Chargers are moving to L.A., and on behalf of Los Angeles, let me just say that we did not ask for this, do not want this, and do not want to lay out a penny for anything connected to this, but it's out of our hands. The takeaways from this for me are twofold: first, San Diego never had a chance, ballpark or no, because the valuation of the franchise will skyrocket with the move (the same reason Donald Sterling was fine with being second-class in L.A. rather than first in San Diego, and why Arte Moreno changed the name of the Angels: L.A. means higher valuation), and second, the taxpayers of San Diego were right to reject the stadium deals. Handouts to billionaires have to stop someplace. And as we realized for 20 years in L.A., not having an NFL team is in some ways better for football fans, because you get more and better games on TV.
