And the Winners Are...
June 29, 2012
So, kudos to our friends over at ProgramDirector.net on their awards show this week.
Thanks to the power of the Internets and Ustream, we found out the winners of the annual PDForum Awards in under seven minutes with live presentation hosted by newsboys.
And for anyone who has endured the grueling two-plus hours of the Echo Awards, you know what a win this was for all of us. I could even endure the cheesiness of Michael Tait for the simple fact that this presentation was simple, to the point and over in seven minutes.
If only ever award show was like this. We don't need the performances; we don't need the funny host banter; we don't need the past recipients presenting this year's award. We just want the winners. Acceptance speeches can come later - and they did here via Twitter and email.
I'm just glad that we can honor the best in our format this year and do it concisely. And I think the votes came out correctly as well. This year's honorees earned it. Most of all, I'm glad I don't have to sit through the Echo Awards again this year. Or at least I wouldn't feel guilty about skipping them to go swim in the Mickey-shaped pool.
