This singer-songwriter and former Roxy model from San Diego, California released her third studio album, Cedar + Gold on October 2nd. With her first three recordings, 2003's The Love EP, 2005's breezy twentythree and 2008's Hello, Tristan Prettyman parlayed her smoky alto voice and laid-back surfer-girl-from-San-Diego charm into an eight-year career studded with highlights that included Hello's No. 2 position on the iTunes Digital Albums chart and headlining tours across the U.S., Europe, and Japan. She is now back on the music scene ready to promote this latest album.
Like the gifted singer/songwriters of which Tristan Prettyman draws her inspiration, artists like Joni Mitchell & Ani DiFranco, Tristan saved all the pain and heartache for the record. "All of these songs were born in the moment of ... the moment they were written about," she explains. The end result is a deeply personal, emotionally-driven record. But if the lead single "My Oh My", released on August 14th is any indication, this is no swan song. Tristan is stronger and sassier than ever. "'My Oh My' is a song that I wrote about just the sort of cat and mouse game you play with someone and how you kind of keep going back to them even though you know it's never going to probably end the way you want it to," Tristan explains.
