BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
Got into radio as an intern right out of high school and have been working my way up through the ranks ever since.
1. How did you become interested in radio?
I always had the radio on growing up. TV was never that big of an interest. I'd sit for hours and listen to the music and the individual spin each jock put of its presentation. I'm a nerd.
2. What part of your job do you like best? Least?
I work with some of the most talented and creative people in the business, what's not to love about that?
What I like the least? A radio station is kind of like a marriage, already being married the wife gets pissed at all the time I spend at the station.
3. Explain the recent big music changes at the station?
Big changes? The only thing I can think of, much to Rob Goldklang's amazement we started playing Linkin Park.
4. What has the impact been so far?
Listenership is up!
5. Tell us about The FM 94/9 Mission?
Our only mission is to kick ass and chew bubble gum... except we just ran out of gum.
6. How are you using Social Media?
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pintrest...anything to touch our listeners where their interests are. Despite the technology revolution people still enjoy a high touch environment, social media just allows us to find new ways to touch them...I know it sounds kind of dirty, but it's also kind of fun.
7. What do you like best about living in San Diego?
I live in the city of distraction. I'm 10-15 minutes away from everything. Beach-check, mountains-check, bar scene-check, music scene-check, 50+ breweries, double check.
8. Fill in the blank: I can't make it through the day without _______?
Coffee! Despite all the wheatgrass, kombucha drinking yogi's that philosophize on enlightenment...This is still a business fueled by caffeine
9. What would surprise people most about you?
I make a mean rye old fashioned
10. What's on tap at your home brewery?
"You're Fired" Sour Belgian Rye, "Jack Bastard" American Strong Ale, "One Eye" Coffee Pale, "Orange-You Glad" Orange India Pale Ale, "My Wittle Pumpkin" Pumpkin Ale, and "Stitch" Brown Ale. I would still have some "Santa Claus" Chocolate Mint Stout left but all the bottles exploded from over carbonation.
